• President: Support Jeremić for UNGA president February 3, 2012

  President Boris Tadić says it would be "good if regional states supported the candidacy of Serbian FM Vuk Jeremić for president of the UN General Assembly".
  
  At a news conference after the trilateral meeting between Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia on Mt. Jahorina near Sarajevo on Friday, the Serbian president pointed out that it would be best if regional votes are unified on all regional issues, including Jeremić's candidacy.

• Trilateral meeting in Bosnian resort ends February 3, 2012

  Leaders of Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina agreed today to focus on resolving open issues and realize joint initiatives together with their governments.
  
  Serbian President Boris Tadić, his Croatian counterpart Ivo Josipović and members of the Bosnian Presidency Željko Komšić, Nebojša Radmanović and Bakir Izetbegović said they agreed to fight against organized crime should be in the focus of attention and that they would apply for EU funds in resolving economic problems.

  They added that they would do the same if the situation was reversed.

• Minister doesn't know what "tycoon" means February 3, 2012

  Infrastructure Minister Milutin Mrkonjić said on Friday that Serbia's national air carrier Jat Airways "would not be sold to tycoons”.
  
  Instead, said the minister from the ranks of the Socialist Party (SPS), the air carrier would go to "businessmen".

• Northern mayor says referendum will go ahead February 3, 2012

  Kosovska Mitrovica Mayor Krstimir Pantić stated on Friday that Serbs in north Kosovo "will not give up on a referendum scheduled for February 14 and 15".
  
  He spoke for Tanjug news agency to refuted speculations reported by the Albanian language media in Priština.

• State of emergency now in 23 municipalities February 3, 2012

  More snow that fell during last night and today, coupled with freezing temepratures that remain well below zero in daytime, caused more problems across Serbia.
  
  The government will today receive a recommendation from a working group to introduce emergency measures and temporarily shut down schools.

• U.S. official believes Israel will attack Iran soon February 3, 2012

  U.S. Defense Minister Leon Panetta believes that Israel will attack Iran in April to stop Tehran from building a nuclear bomb.
  
  The Washington Post first reported that Panetta was concerned about the increased likelihood Israel would launch an attack over the next few months, Reuters has reported.

• Around 98,000 victims of Bosnian war registered so far February 3, 2012

  The Research and Documentation Centre (IDC) of Bosnia-Herzegovina has registered around 98,000 victims killed in the last war in the country.
  
  55 percent of the vicrims were soldiers and 45 percent were civilians.

• OSCE concerned about threats to witnesses February 3, 2012

  The OSCE mission to Serbia has expressed concern over complaints by certain witnesses in war crimes cases in the Higher Court in Belgrade.
  
  Some witnesses complained that they are not being offered adequate protection and that they are being subjected to threats.

• Sports minister resigns to take CoE job February 3, 2012

  Serbia’s Youth and Sport Minister Snežana Samardžić Marković will resign after her appointment as Council of Europe (CoE) director general for democracy.
  
  She will propose that one of her closest associates, Youth State Secretary Ivana Kovačević, take over the office.

• Dialogue historic chance, NATO chief says February 3, 2012

  NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said Friday that the continuation of the Belgrade-Priština dialogue is of vital importance.
  
  He pointed out that the dialogue should lead to concrete results and agreements on all issues regarding northern Kosovo.

• Daily: Coalition has no majority in parliament February 3, 2012

  The ruling coalition is having a hard time securing majority of 126 MPs in the Serbian parliament, daily Večernje novosti writes.
  
  According to the daily, it is uncertain whether parliament will hold sessions until the next parliament convocation.
