• EU harmonizes position on Serbian resolution September 7, 2010

  EU member-states have principally adopted “guidelines” forthe harmonization of positions with Serbia ahead of the upcoming debate in the UN General Assembly.
  
  The Beta news agency has learned from EU officials in Brussels that the opinions of those countries which have and those which have not recognized Kosovo were harmonized.

• Novi Pazar not to be underestimated September 7, 2010

  The Serbian Army (VS) Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Miloje Miletić said that the situation in Novi Pazar should not be underestimated or exaggerated.
  
  “Individual incidents cannot endanger the stability of the state, it is only a warning that the problem needs to be solved in a way that we want to solve it in,” Miletić said.

• PM opens work on gas pipeline September 7, 2010

  Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković and Russian Ambassador Alexander Konuzin officially opened works on the Serbian section of the South Stream gas pipeline.
  
  The section in question is the Niš-Leskovac-Vranje part (MG-11) of the pipeline.

• Agricultural surplus hits USD 535mn September 7, 2010

  In the first seven months of this year, domestic agriculture saw a foreign trade surplus of USD 535mn.
  
  This is a 11.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) stated on Tuesday.

• EP backs visa liberalization with Bosnia September 7, 2010

  The European Parliament (EP) Foreign Affairs Committee has confirmed a positive proposal on visa liberalization with Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania.
  
  It was stated that the Committee backs the proposal of EP rapporteur and member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Sarah Ludford for the abolishment of visas needed for Bosnia-Herzegovina and Albania citizens to travel in the Schengen zone.

• UK ambassador warns of “isolation” September 7, 2010

  British ambassador to Belgrade Stephen Wordsworth said that if Serbia ignores the EU’s opinion such policies can lead to isolation.
  
  He said that Serbia could be headed back to isolation if it continues to ignore the EU and “does what it wants,” referring to the resolution on Kosovo that Serbia has sent to the UN General Assembly without consultations with the international community.

• North Korea releases South Korean boat September 7, 2010

  North Korea released a South Korean fishing boat and its seven-man crew Tuesday,
  
  This move comes after asking South Korea for a shipment of rice, cement and heavy equipment to help it recover from recent flooding.

• Barroso gives EU “state of union” address September 7, 2010

  Jose Manuel Barroso has called on EU countries to show solidarity in tackling Europe’s economic problems over the next year.
  
  “We either swim together, or sink separately”, he said.

• Analyst: Opinion on Tadić slowly changing September 7, 2010

  U.S. analyst Damon Wilson said that it can be heard more often in Washington that there is no difference between Boris Tadić and Serbia's nationalistic parties.
  
  He said that the resolution on Kosovo which Serbia submitted to the UN General Assembly has had a negative impact on Belgrade-Washington relations.

• Daily: Agreement for new Montenegrin PM reached September 7, 2010

  Montenegro's ruling Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) is very close to reaching an agreement on nominating a new prime minister, according to daily Vijesti.
  
  Citing unofficial information, the daily wrote that vice-presidents of the DPS Svetozar Marović and Filip Vujanović, who prevented DPS President Milo Đukanović to appoint Igor Lukšić as prime minister four years ago, are now ready to support such a solution after Đukanović's departure.

• FM heads to New York September 7, 2010

  Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić starts his visit to the U.S. today, where he wold attend the United Nations General Assembly session on Thursday.
  
  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Jeremić would also hold a number of meetings with representatives of UN member-states during his visit prior to the UN General Assembly session.

• OSCE urges Bosniaks to form “real” council September 7, 2010

  Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia Dimitrios Kypreos expressed concern on Monday over the fact that a Bosniak national council has not been formed yet
  
  He also expressed further concern regarding the events that have taken place recently in the south of Serbia.

• Đoković cruises into U.S. open quarterfinals September 7, 2010

  Serbian tennis ace Novak Đoković cruised into the U.S. Open quarterfinals with a quick victory over American Mardy Fish.
  
  Đoković defeated Fish easily in three sets (6:3, 6:4, 6:2). The match lasted less than two hours.

• “Pride Parade to be held this year” September 7, 2010

  Analyst Zoran Dragišić believes that the Pride Parade would be held because of the clearly expressed political support which was missing last year.
  
  A year after the parade was canceled due to the authorities’ inability to protect the gathering from hooligan threats, a plan for this year’s Pride Parade would be announced today.

• France set to grind to halt over pensions strike September 7, 2010

  More two million people are expected to take to the streets across France today in protest over the government’s pension reform plans.
